well, you obviously like Tannoys, so why not!

I thought the small standmount of the time (609?) was quite good too.

611's would be good in a room of that size.

    My short list would be
Ruark talisman mark 1 (Nice and relax sounding)
Acoustic Energy Evo2 (very good with Raggae)
Kef 35.2 (better bass preformance than 55.2)
All are easy to drive and can be had at under £150.

Ok so skiiing got in the way of getting those preludes, they went for bugger all, feel gutted. Well I would if I hadn't found someone offering a pair of Tannoy R3s for £130...
VERY pleased with them, blow those 601s away. Bass is spot on - deep and sharp enough. Really getting frustrated with the ipod lineout's lack of guts now.
    Thanks
    for the help though guys

    Hi!

    Have you got a computer?

If so, why not consider getting a really good sound card for it, and using the line-out from that, or a digital-out and use an off-board dac.

you may even find the existing soundcard's line-out sounds better than the Ipod (?)

you'd be hard pushed to beat these
    royd apex
    rega ela
    mission 752/752f
or, if ye realy lucky, the royd abbot
the royds and rega have the same balance and sameish sound, dont go really low on the bass, but make up for it in the detail nd midrange stakes.
the mission 752's are a different animal, and imo, are the best speaker mission ever made. go nice and deep with a controlled bass, and are detailed in the mid. dont team with bright 'tronics tho, they will shout like a woman being whipped with a piranah. go well with rega, linn and valves. beautifully built too, look the boolox in the primavera finish.

Hi Harry, I have some Wharfedale Pacific PI-30 floorstanders that you can have for £150 + carriage. They are in great condition and cost me around 500 quid not so many years back. They are boxed in original packaging. I have a picture to email if required.

If interested PM me for my phone number. I live in West Yorkshire.

have got a computer with a decent (semi) sound card, but it's in a different room running a different system. I'm assuming the only way round this is sticking with cds?
Damnit why does the ipod's lineout have to be so crap.
