After a few test drives I have fallen in love with the Focus it is just the right car for me in every way and I am looking at the 1.6 ones. However the supply of decent 1.6s are rare and they seem to sell fast, the 1.8 don't sell as easily so I think it will be easier to get a good one.

Insurance is only £20 a month more than what I was paying on my Fiesta I am just worried that there will too much power for city driving as its 114bhp. I have driven a 2.0 206 GTI breifly before.

...crikey just get out there and enjoy it.

Thanks I just need to work out if £95 a month on insurance is a bit silly when a Ka costs £58 a month to insure in comparison. I need a slightly larger car for my business and the Focus was the best compromise in terms of reliability and insurance groups.

Insurance wise I have everything against me, new driver, living in Manchester, running a business, male, fairly young etc.

Try a Toyota Corolla, great for commuting, will never break, and dirt cheap insurance.

1.8 too big to commute, pshaw.... I commute in a 200 bhp 2.4. Does the trick quite nicely

Too much for the insurance :). For some reason older Japeneese cars just a cost a fortune to insure in my postcode. The Escort also does, but the Focus is a goof 40% cheaper than most cars of that size. It is do with the safety and the security. Almeras seem to be only japaneese car which is cheap to insure (for me) but the ones I have seen have all been quite rusty.

Yeah the MK1 was just too dull to even consider. When I test drove the Focus I just could not fault it at all, no rattles, unusual noises or anything the reason I walked away is the trader said there was no warranty and there was a lot of condensation which may have been normal but I wasn't going to buy it then find out the HG has gone. My mate has a Focus 1.8 with 140,000 miles on the clock and he said all he does it service it and it flies through the MOT.

A 1.8 should ok for me, I would prefer the 1.6 but I won't rule out a 1.8 in future.

And would you be happy to drive around the city in that? Its probably quite a bit faster than the Focus 1.8.

What about a Mini Cooper S. Very solid city car. My wife loves her Clubman S. Decent on gasoline.

Max budget is really £2k, in a months time I might be able to stretch £2200 but my suspended policy runs out in 6 weeks time so I will need a car befrore then.

I've just had enough of all this waiting till MOT to find out your car was dangerious crap.

PS You can have too much money and sex, I am sick of all those united players jamming up the road. Twice this year people have been late meeting me - the cause a united player crashing their Bentley or Ferrari.

or not.... i drive a primera sport, and although i dont mind it, and its fairly new to me so im keeping it, i probably wouldnt go around recommending it to others. The ride is painfully harsh, the plastics are a bit cringeworthy, and since joining leagues with the devil (renault) reliability has gone down too.

Having said that my friend has done 15,000 miles in a Clio without even seeing a garage, thankfully I least made her service it it. Got 60k on the clock now the engine has never had its rocker cover off or anything replaced other than filters and plugs and it still sounds and drives like a brand new car.

Well I have had a focus 1.8 tdci for 6 months and apart from what turned out to be a little fuel blockage (hours labour) I have to say its been the nicest car I have owned.

Its the 115php one and is ver pokey for a diesel and its totally a good thing.

So basically AT don't bring my buzz down with your shit. Go and get one or STFU.

    Thankyou.
