    Hi,
I've had my s/h Shigaraki for 3 days now. It's taken the place of my ageing DDE v1.0 and is being fed by an Audio Alchemy DDS2 transport which I hope to replace next year.
Here are some subjective notes on what's changed:

it sounds like I have new, larger speakers - deeper, better defined as in less greasy, “full range†bass

the instruments are more detached AND I can hear ALL the notes

no more of that digital hardness/intracranial pressure – even the toughest recordings sound good – maybe because it's not “inside a glassy box†but airy and spatially atmospheric

the music flows naturally, voices are isolated, uncorrupted by the sounds of instruments and very real

sound comes from real instruments (you can hear the resonant box of an acoustic guitar, cello, kick drum, etc.)

Overall, I was very lucky to have found this unit.
    Cheers,
    Ricardo

P.S.: The DDE/DTI combo is for sale...

    Midland Audio Exchange.

Very nice 47 labs did one of the best dems at the 2004 London show.

The Weiss currently retails for £7500 and probably one of the most natural sounding DAC's I have heard. The Stellavox is pretty close very natural but compared directly to the Weiss the higher frequencies are a little shaper. But that is only on direct comparison. The Stellavox for £1195 is a stonking good product. Its one of my favorite bits of kit and well worth a listen.

They both have the same heritage comming from Swiss professional manufacturers.
