I mostly listen to classical. But as part of my personal vinyl revival I bought a couple of 7" recordings that I remember owning the first time around when I was an 11 year old or something.

The sound quality is outstanding (Eternal Flame, by the Bangles, for instance). Probably better than many decent classical LPs I have bought from reputable labels (DGG, Decca, etc).

    Is this common?

    Hi Sammyo,

7" recordings can be hit and miss in terms of sound quality, just like lps. Depending how they are cut and mixed, you can experience high quality.

I find that 12" single can have excellent sound quality in the right cases.

Yeah, I think it was just lucky. Though it might partly have been the 45 factor.

    Thanks, though.

Eternal Flame still sounds good though. Also A-ha Take on Me!
