The nice thing about being self-employed is that you can, in theory, take as much vacation time as you wish. In reality, I quickly found that it was self-inflicted slavery, and in 17 years have only managed this one time.
The bad thing about a long vacation is that your clients make you pay dearly for your absence, by not calling and not returning your calls.
The nice thing about a long vacation is that you manage to sever the link with home, a boring-as-usual presidential election campaign, and everything that makes your daily life daily.
The bad thing about a long vacation and being self-employed is that you don't make a cent while your are gone, and invoices pile up all the same.
But no regrets, I'm turning 60 next month, and as the French say "Ce qui est pris n'est plus à prendre". Tones, you translate, thank you.
