Where did the PMC AML1s come from? ;) I wonder if they are my old ones!

Afraid not. He bought them from a guy in a tiny bedsit in North London back in 2004. Listening to them now - sound great, although one of the front baffles has just started to buzz a bit. Did you ever get that with yours at reasonable volumes?

Never. If you get something like a steel rule you can take the magnets out the front baffle and tighten the bolts.

Having said that I did get slight buzzing from the lid that covers the controls sometimes. A bit of blue-tak sorted that.

I sold mine to some guy who I believe just sold them on, but I sold them after 2004.

I still think they are the best standmount money no object. They did great things with a Music First pre-amp.

Edit: OMG over 3K posts!

It's a Wadia, an 830 I think or maybe an 831. Either way it has the digital volume control and is connected driectly to the AMLs using Chord Chorus with XLR terminations. It's a very neat solution, as you can see.

I had always thought of doing something along these lines myself with an MF CD-Pre and some Meridian actives or the like. No idea how it would sound but as a concept it's very appealing.

    I've just checked - it's an 830.
