If anybody here has a NICAM VCR connected to a HIFI amp with a TV on top of the VCR then make sure you move the VCR away from the TV.

Since I have put my VCR on a dedicated rack the sound quality of my VCR's tuners (not even test with it cassetes) is so much better. Before it was so soft and dull now I am actually getting HIFI quality from it.

I am amusing this is because the radio frequencies generation from the TV were interfering with the tuner on my VCR when it was directly underneath it.

Does anybody have any more scientific explantions?

It has been said before but I'll say it again. TVs are a menace in many ways, but they are particularly evil in their effect on other equipment, especially source components. Separation is the order of the day. 6 inches is good. 12 inches even better. If there is a nice thick slab of MDF between the TV and the component, so much the better. Never put any component immediately in contact with a TV - and that includes so called set-top boxes!

Of course I have completely solved this particular problem :JOEL:

Our TV has a built in interference stopper.

I once put our lass very close to the TV and she never interfered with me all night :p.

    Guys,

My TV is 10 metres away from my stereo set-up (in the same room) so how's that for separation?:D

    Enjoy the music,

Is that if the TV is on or off?

I have my CDP in a rack underneath my TV, but movingt the CDP to the bottom shelf makes no different to me.

I don't usu. listen to music with the TV on!
