i want to try a different amp, i am now looking for a power amp or pair/ quad of mono's. the bigger the better, i dont mind the odd mark as i buy to use. i want solid state with plenty of watts on tap and ideally i will struggle to lift it due to its huge transformer. dents, dings, a corner missing from a heatsink etc dont worry me if it is in good working order so please tell me what you have.

ive got one now, thanks for the offers.

    This chap needs a KRELL

Find a nice s/h one -preferably KSA series such as KSA250

You'll need a fork lift to pick it up

what do you need that much power for i have to ask?

ive never found any speaker that the 8000M's couldnt drive to destruction, if you need much more power i would suggest a hearing check might be your first stop ;)

Mo' power doesn't mean louder ;)

I don't play my music loud, nicely detailed and refined, but use a big Krell - 500 watts into 4 ohm

but then its not the power giving you the sound quality... its just the quality of the amplifier itself.

    big amps

i have a couple of musical fidelity p270's.

what you could do is bi amp with them.

they are about just about liftable with one person per poweramp.

    400 each.

can you speak up a bit :D
i need as much power as i can fit in my rack. why do i need this you ask, my answer is, why not?
i change speakers more than my socks. some are efficiant, some are not. i like the idea of having plenty of power in reserve that can go down to 1 ohm or even dc with ease so that i am never limited. only huge linear power supplies can do this.

larkrise is absolutely right, i need a krell. what i dont need is a second mortgage!

now your talking. hi john, i have to ask. have they been serviced at all? a good freind of mine has a pair of 370's which are of the same age and they have both given up the ghost requiring new caps and transistors. that is going to cost what they are worth!

    where are you john?

    Ha,

I didnt think you would be interested - i thought you would be krell-ing too and so i have got myself in a muddle.

i have just put them on av forums and their rules say i should not advertise elsewhere and i should direct you there.

so the thread is here: http://www.avforums.com/forums/showthread.php?p=6099238
stick a reply on there and we can chat about them.
i am just south of the river in london.

    cheers
