Why isn't there a place to vote for "no idea"?

I think Steven, you may wish to go about this thread in a slightly different manner.
Citing the cds3/xps2 in the frey as well is not helping the cause either I'm afraid, as everyone knows you need a chord dac 64 and a dvd player. :)

Since most of dat19's preferred systems seem to have ATC speakers at the end of them, I'll go for his.

    What a pointless thread...

Dat19 can choose the room. I guess something fairly large, rectangular (7m long x 4m wide x 3m high) with a concrete floor. The speakers will fire down the length of the room. Any degree of toe-in will be determined by the nature of the speakers themslves.

The thread may be odd but to me it is the best way of focusing our minds on whether an objective or subjective approach to entire system building will ultimately deliver the musical goods.

A few variables as well as contentious choices of kit need to be ironed out, so lets lose the CDS3/XPS2.

C'mon guys it won't hurt you to vote as well as add a little constructive input, without taking the piss.

I know forums are about fantasy as much as reality, but really, Steve, what exactly are you hoping to achieve with this? Give us a chance to trot out our prejudices?

Comparing imaginary systems in an imaginary room - the mind boggles.

I think I picked the wrong forum. The subjectivists are keeping quiet.

What's the point of trying to start an argument when all is calm? How can anyone possibly express a preference without sitting down and listening to it? This subjective objective debate is starting to grind me down:mad:

Well I nominate my "Mr Mick Parry" clone as the first non-blinded listener.

    What music shall we play?

There's no option for my system - which clearly sounds the best (at least to my ears)
