What a load of shit! Some of those people really need to get a life, to be honest, acting like a bunch of 10 year old kids, with the tantrums, sulking and name calling, acting like a bunch of bitches

Nothing wrong with the thread so far but it might be worth just reiterating part of the forum AUP:

I agree. The last things we need are imported arguments. There's absolutely nothing wrong with our own. ;)

i feel sorry for jw, to be harrassed to such an extent that you give up something you obviously enjoyed at one stage must be heartbreaking.
the linked to thread is perhaps a distillation of the reason for what has happened - reading it is a bit like watching a car crash, fascinating and horifying at the same time.
still best of luck to jw in the future and welcome to any mana 'fugees who make their way over to zg.
    cheers

That's total nonsense, JW could have stopped it any time he chose to. He chose not to, despite many people telling him the solution to the problem. Eventually Ian Wright quite rightly shot the Horse, only for JW to reinstate him, with predictable results. JW relishes a good old ding-dong on the forum, and I can't quite see why he's complaining, tbh.

    james,
i'd respectfully suggest that you are perhaps too close to the argument to be objective about these things. certainly if what i've read is true (which i'm fully prepared to believe is not the case) then being phoned at 6.30 am about a tiff on the forum is highly out of order i think if it was me i'd have given a 2 work response and gone back to bed.
at the end of the day though the mana forum was always an emotionally charged place, a bit like the al quieda of the hi-fi world. i can only hope that bin laden follows suit and jacks it in after one too many tiffs among his leiutenants.
    cheers

That's the first I've heard of that. But very little would surprise me.

I'll probably be jumped on for 'interfering' but I do hope that the nastiness dies with the forum.

I enjoy reading and discussing hi-fi, music and equipment (including Mana) but the personal slagging is a complete turn off.

It's a shame, but not surprising. I can't imagine the forum has been a good advert for mana for some time, it certainly put me off trying it (I simply didn't want to be dragged into a holy war for either: (a) not liking it; or (b) liking it). Some of the people there seem to be extremely decent, but the moderation was, at best, random, and the favouritism that seemed to go on provoked quite a few of the nastier threads AFAICT.

I hope that some of the more interesting posters who aren't already posting elsewhere join here or PFM.

Personally (and I mean it seriously) I'm grateful to Mana for converting me to scepticism in stands, cables and the like and saving me mountains of money better used for better boxes and more music. I'm sorry to see the forum go, because of the many pleasant and helpful Mana enthusiasts I've encountered who really believe it works (and for whom it clearly does work) and who get much pleasure from it.

Latest news: the Mana forum will go on, but will go from Infopop to vBulletin software, probably.

    Yep,

You don't get rid of the old place so easily, It was when I started to do a bit of a tribute to people who had contributed to the Forum over the years and looked up some of their back posts, that I realised that the Mana Forum had had some absolutely fantastic people contributing over the years. Halfway through I was thinking "this Forum is far too good a resource to lose."

When a few came back as a result of my thread, it looks like John Watson felt the same. We must now look forward to the new Iron Age, hope we've all learned something and we would of course welcome anyone from over here who might like to join in sometimes.

    Paul,

Are you saying the "weenies" would be welcome, and that the physco ferrite hard core would be banished to great blacksmiths forge on mount Oylimpus?
