    David??

I'd be interested to know what Zanash can do for £3 a meter. If it looks nice I might buy some!

Simon, for goodness sake all I was saying was that pete had supplied me with some speaker wire that I thought sounded quite good...to me better than the twin and earth I had been using previously and it was relatively inexpensive (by necessity!).

I was just putting it a suggestion that the gentleamn (Phil I think) might like to consider it as an option.

    I don't recall what it was, probably should......but I don't :).

    H'okay?

Don't fret. I was just pointing out that with a budget of £3 a meter, anything from Zanash is likely to be well out of reach no matter how much better you think it may be than something from B&Q or similar.

If they cables you got from Zanash really were in that sort of price range then I stand corrected and would be interested to know more.

    Phil,

do bear in mind (as a newcomer), that some people on this forum are traders, selling cables and other such audiophilery. They do tend to recommend each others products a lot as this is of benefit to all. It's a sad facet of forum life these days and one you should take into consideration when reading replies.

There are a lot of recommendations for the B&Q cable - indeed Quad see fit to use it in high end demos at HiFi shows. A safe bet then really.

Yeah well - I'm just a Hifi DIY'er and like making things that sound better than most expensive solutions.
So you can take my recommendation of the Ubyte for what it is!
Cheap and brilliant. - lining no ones pocket!

Mike, its so nice to hear from you again.

I'm just so sorry you feel like that.

FWIW I take it your refering to my cones.......I have tried to explain multiple times now that I have had to stop producing them in any quantity.

( quite apart from my own domestic pressures, my Dad has just turned 77, my Mum coming up for 70.....and on Monday is goign for a (routine) heart op. This isn'#t a sob story; I am just trying to reinforce the point that I DON'T produce cones in any number now)

As far as Petes cable srae concerned.....all I say is theat through his knowledge my sytem has evolved beyond recognition.

I am quite prepared to be (largely) guided on materials by Pete...and can recommend him to others too.

......no ones forcing any stuff on anybody...

If you think twin and earth is the best, Gods speed to you.

    I now disagree.

I call it "grooming" David. ;)

Surely you've heard of the cable companies that give their basic models away free through retailers or on the front of magazines....

    Hey Phil,
Are you enjoying the latest episode of " Cable Soap Opera " All the main characters are here spouting their venom. We have the Vilan, the purveyor, the supporters, the naysayers. A great cast. Quite entertaining actually.
Kidding aside the sound your after, taste in music does not require anything exotic. The DIY info provided by some posters is all you need.
After making the IC of choice compare it to a so called "better" IC. Then see if you hear a difference. There are no absolutes or "best" cable. As you have read here its in the eye of the beholder. Just don't become swayed by the naysayers or believers. USE YOUR EARS. Its that simple.
    Awaiting next episode.
