Stumbled across these by accident. Filed under "punk" I thought it would be interesting to hear how their "acoustic ep" sounded.

I wasn't sure about it at first. I'm very aware fo the fact i'm quite cynical about a lot of music like this these days. Cant take it serious, and it doesn't appeal much in a non-serious way either.

So, we've got a (by all acounts), thrashy punk band, doing 6 acoustic tracks. How's this going to work? Not bad at all! I felt myself disliking it within about 2 seconds, but the songs themselves are really good IMO. Some obvious roots in the likes of the clash and others of that era, and a large quantity of the Pogues in there too.

May not be the ultimate in technical ability, (not saying they're cr@p), or be particularly inventive, but they seem to write good catchy flowing tunes.

I've not heard their "proper" stuff, and have a feeling I probably wont be too keen on it. And if I'd heard it first i'd possibly never have tried this.

Their website www.againstme.net is a bit pants. Not noticed any samples, and seems really slow.

    Pleasently suprised

A friend of mine is a fan, also stumbled across them by accident after going into the Cavern one night after work to check out whatever was on... I've heard the first album and quite like it, not yet got around to buying it though. The acoustic thing sounds interesting though! The Pogues/Clash influences are obvious.

It would be cool if they were supporting the Dropkick Murphys, Dom & I are off to see them on March 5 in Bristol... and there's a beer festival on in the afternoon too!
