10,000 hz is not a patch on moon safari or the virgin suicides. too commercial after safari which WAS commercial but didn;t sound it for some reason.
    cheers

Like you MO!, Air is one of the few bands of which I have all their albums (allthough a mate has had Virgin Suicides on loan a bloody long time :inferno: )

Moon Safari is without doubt the best of them. One of the best chillout albums of recent years IMO.

10,000Hz Legend - hmm, didn't rate it much at first but it's growing on me (and I'm listening to it as I write :) ). As Jules says, not a patch on Moon Safari, but contrary to what he said I think it's much less commercial. It's much edgier, abstract and less melodic. It's almost like they "did a Radiohead" :D

Why is it that Moon Safari has been used on every single travel programme since its release?

AFAIK Moby's "Play" is the only album of recent times (ever?) to have every single track used for the music of a commercial.

I wonder how he reconciles that with his punk rock, Marxist beginnings :D Difficult to say no to a shed load of cash I'd imagine, and what an influence it had on him. His pre Play albums all being quite different and then "18" coming out after Play trying to be, well, Play 2 and consequently not being that great

I'm pretty fond of all of the Air albums. MOon safari is THE album, but each of the others is worth a listen.

MOby was on a chat show (Frank Skinner?) a while back and he was asked about the whole "selling out" thing. He laughed and said pretty much how all these reviewers and journalists who slag him for it have their little captions squeezed into their magazines around the adverts too!

I think play was an excellent album, but over exposed. There was an album called "Natural blues" that came out a little bit after it. It features alot of the tunes that he sampled and is pretty good!

I have 3 Air cd's Everybody hertzs, 10,000hz and Premiers symptomes. I have to listen to Moon Safari.

As far as Moby goes, the only reason he released all the play songs on adverts was because his Album before didn't get air play on the radio. So he said on an intervew. Maybe Moby might give a little bit of his wealth to the families of the blues artists he copied. I wonder if they are still poor in the south???

MO! - you might want to read the previous post by GAZZ that you quoted:

"I have 3 Air cd's Everybody hertzs, 10,000hz and Premiers symptomes. I have to listen to Moon Safari."

Kind of answers your question :D
