I have my Perreaux headphone amp sitting on top of my Rotel amp, because I dont really have anywhere else it can go. The Rotel like most amps has vents on the top. The Perreaux is a half size component which means its more or less half the width and depth of a standard hifi component. The Perreaux has little rubber feet which means theres about 1 cm or so clearance between it and the Rotel.

I was just wondering whether the Rotel may possibly overheat after a few hours of loud use (rare but I do sometimes, and it does seem to get hot when its played loud, as you would expect).

    What do you reckon?

When I had this dilemma, while I was searching for a rack, I had to stack a stereo amp on top of an AVamp. My temporary fix to prevent over-heating was to use 4 glass tumblers to create the air-space.
