well, funds are riseing and Mrs penance says 'lets do it'
Ive been looking at quite a few amps, mostly s/h.
My plan is to get a power amp and use the shearne as a pre until funds allow purchase of a simple dedicated pre.
I was looking at Bel Canto import but i think i may be better looking elsewhere due to costs and also i have a dislike of private s/h for some reason.
Sim was considered, when i marry the queen of sheeba
Sooo, as it stands i have around £700 but spending less is better ;)
Also considered the Avondale modules, but after hearing the valve gear the other week i seriously wonder if that would make me happy.
Obviously the valve amp in my sights is the WAD KAT6550. Again buying blind but i am fairly sure if it turned out not to be good with the Dyns i could sell and recover expenses.
    So..............give me your ideas
    what would you do..................

i believe dynaudio used naim amps to develop some of their range. you might look for a 2nd hand 112/150 or even consider a new nait 5i.
just a thought. you should be able to demo.
    cheers

    Are you sure about that?

I'm not sure who it was, but I'm pretty sure I heard otherwise.

Well, there were quite a few Evo 200.2 power amps on Audiogon up until recently, looks like they've all been snapped up, you could bought one into the country for about the £700 mark inclusive of delivery and taxes.

I've not had or heard of any major problems with Audiogon. There's a better class of trader on there IME, they're just much better bred stock than the great un-washed who generally inhabit E-bay, IMHO. ;)

So you got lucky...but what's that got to do with hifi :D :shame:

Dynaudios need amps with loads of welly - good current delivery more than large numbers of watts. Difficult choice. Go for the WAD :)

    Penance,

This may be unfashionable, but do check out the large Rotel power amps, before you part with dosh. I have had two of these at home and have been very surprised at how well they gell with my Dyns. A local dealer should have one he can lend you to try.

Nope, I've not voted for anything.

Who was it Dyn were auditioning with at recent shows? I remeber several people on several boards mentioning how the same set up was being used in two rooms (the speaker deMO using ??? electronics, and, ??? electronics using dyn speakers). And one room apparently sounded utter pants, while the other was great.
