    Hi...

Can anyone assist me re. my amplifier which has started to develop a rather annoying fault...

Every now and again, the signal to the speakers begins to fade, sometimes with some "static" background noise...

This can be either right or left hand channels, sometimes both, and happens whether I'm spinning vinyl or CD's.

However, I've discovered that by tapping the volume control the fault is rectified.:(

Is this just a dry joint, or maybe something worse...?

    Dougie.

Sounds like a dirty volume pot. Take the lid off and see if there is a loose solder joint, if not then get yourself some contact cleaner spay and spay it in the volume pot and turn it around a lot of times.
