As I'm about to put my lp12/ittok/k18 into the shop to see what needs attending to I was surfing about the net and came across Analogue Addicts Linn LP12 FAQ a fast, easy to use and information packed site containing a whole shedload of lp12 related things.

Just thought I'd share it with other forum members.

A million thanks to Neil J Mackie.

I know very little about turntables and it's always fascinated me the cult following the LP12 has. I can't think of any other single bit of hifi kit that has such a following  Just what is it that makes it so special? Surely there are 100s of other TTs as worthy at the same price range?

Michael, I'd say you're 100% correct - there are many TTs just as good in that price range. IMO, LP12s are very good - but not at full price. I got mine second-hand from the Basel Linn man, who did it up for me, and it sounded significantly better than my old TT. I'd never buy a new one, but a good second-hand one is something worth investigating.

    Michael,
Like a lot of people I plucked up the courage to visit a specialist dealer after first reading all the hi-fi magazines available from the big high street newsagent and after committing piles of technical details to memory. I then visited the dealer three times for demonstrations with various combinations of tt, amp & speakers. The demos were excellent as I could hear the difference between a set-ups worth much, much more and ones worth much less.

So, why did I buy the lp12/ittok/k9 from new?
Well . . the music sounded rather good and all the technical information I had spent time cramming into my brain didn't seem to matter all that much when it came to handing over my credit card details.

The kit just sounded right for the job.
