I used my dads old tomtom go 300 for a trip down to Guildford for Christmas.

NORMALLY this unit performs pretty reliably but coming back up the M25 past Heathrow it missed two junction totally; by that I mean the voice failed to notify me of the need to keep in the right hand lane for to avoid the turn offs etc.

This was totally unpresedented as it normally keeps me very well infomed.

(it seemed a little slow to react at times going down as well)

    Anyone any ideas?

Does it need an up date /down load (it hasn't had one I don't think) for new roads or was it a signal issue (the indicator seemed ok......just dropping one of five bars at times).

AS I got back up towards Shropshire.....M6, M54, A41 etc it seemed to be ok again.

    Thoughts?

    cheers,

    David

I noticed the same thing with my TT One V3 - brand new - going up the M5 past Bristol it warns about the M49 etc but completely ignores the M4 junction.

I like the device though, very useful and generally very accurate, but clearly not infallible, so I use it as an aid and still pay attention to where I'm going :).

it can be a combination of things... Out of date / slightly inaccurate maps.

A signal issue - it does guess where you are (within a couple of meters) rather than accurately pinpointing (blame the US for this one - national security or something).

Software issue - the complexity of the road causes it to make an inaccurate choice.

Combine all these together and it does a pretty damn good job most of the time.

Just have to take instructions with a pinch of salt :D

Yes, I aas just surprised as it normally does a pretty good job.

To miss one jn owuld have surprised me; two really was unusual.

I used it to go up to Manchester (city centre) 18 months ago......it was (AFIIR) faultless.

More recently a trip up to Wrexham, the same.

Ill try a download when I get to it.

Depends entirely on the map reading skills of the navigator. In my case the Tom Tom saves my wife's life/marriage:D.
