I've run my Pioneer DV-656A for a couple of years into an old portable that would only take a video cable, and that worked, Now changing the TV for one with Scart, and using that, I can't get the Pioneer to output an RGB signal. I change the setting under the Video Output menu to RGB, but nothing changes - it still only outputs via the video socket. I tried another DVD player into that TV and it worked fine immediately :JPS:. Any ideas why the Pinoeer isn't acting on that new setting?

My pioneer has 2 scart sockets, but only 1 is rgb enabled. You got the right one?

When you tried the other player, did you use the same scart cable?

Just to rule out any fault with that.

yep to both - tried both sockets and also the cable. it's not causing a problem in a way becuase I have a spare dvd player that I've hooked into that system, but it is annoying - the Pioneer retains the setting but doesn't seem to act on it.. It may have had a fault from new - I'd never have found out as it's only now that I've tried this connection, and it's years too late now to send it back.

Don't you need a special cable for RGB over SCART? I think so.

Nope - but the cable needs to be fully connected (all 21 pins). Special RGB-only SCARTS don't have the audio pins connected.
