Replacing some beloved quad 63's and am looking into leema xens, avi pro-nine plus, and ae1 mkiii. My room is fairly small and my amp is an atc sia2-150.

Anyone able to compare these? Others I should think about?

    Only one choice, IMO.

    Harbeth HLP3-ES2.

Whilst these are excellent speakers, they are active and have a retail in the region of £4k. Not really comparable to the speakers that kavudan is considering.

Having had M20s I would agree that this is a very fine speaker, with great all around abilities. But it is quite a size and I don't think you could really call it a mini monitor.

Why not choose an ATC passive speaker? Perfect match for your amplifier and stupendous value in a minimonitor. A matching sub is definitely recommended with them or any of these speakers. I really dig the Harbeth HL-P3ES as well. Revel is also very good, but not really a mini monitor.

Thats vey true, my M22's arent exactly tiny but they can be used virtually flush with the back wall which can be a godsend in a small room. Mind you in a really small room they would probably be overpowering.

    thanks for your help...

This forum is a lot more responsive than pinkfish (unless your post is denegrating Naim).

I should have mentioned, I'm in the US, so my access to some of the things you are mentioning is limited.

I have thought about ATC's....too bad it is a pain to ship across the ocean.

Has anyone listened to the contenders I had mentioned earlier? Also, has anyone listened to active AVI's? Are they any good?

    thanks again,
    dan

I used to own Shl-5's and found them a touch rolled off on top...is that a harbeth trademark sound? I have also been considering the c7es-2 (pm'ed you about this...but would like to hear others' opinions as well).

Had neat petites/gravitas for a while...liked them a lot but ultimately found the highs fatiguing. The harbeths were better in that regard, but felt a tad bit too much in the other direction...

Dynaudio Contour 1.1 is a very good match for the SIA2-150 ;)

    Hi Kavudan,
ATC speakers are available in the U.S.A. without having to import them yourself. Here is the link to the importer.

    http://www.flatearthaudio.com/

They have dealer info on the website.

I'm aware of flatearth audio...bought a pair of neats from them...this will likely be a used purchase however...

Totem Model 1 are pretty good for minimonitors. Otherwise I'd agree with the Proac Response 1. Or, if you are mainly a classical man, then Ensemble PA1 (I think that's the model No) from Switzerland are awesome
