Spotted a pair in local rag, possible problems, but wondered if anyone has heard of or come across them before. They have a 12" bass/mid unit with whizzer and two identical looking tweeters per cab.

I just love those big old speakers :D

Yeah, they look funky don't they!

I can't find any info on the web about these, although they look fairly well made. It's a 2hr round trip to go and see/hear them so not sure if it's worth the effort.....tempted though.....

Reckon I could get them for £40, whaddya think?

Must admit, I'd be curious (I love old stuff like this), but do think about what exactly you plan to do with them. I'bve done this sort of thing before now. Seen something, thought "Cool!", bought it and then its sat in the spare room doing nothing

You have a very good point Uncle (I've been there myself more than once before), and I do already have a big pair of Tannoys in my living room so would struggle to squeeze them in at home......but (and it's a big butt), I now have a workshop with an office as big as my living room....with a PC with a soundcard but no speakers......all I'd need would be a cheap old amp - maybe a nice big 70's silver Marantz or similar to match the age of the speakers! :D

Those long winter afternoons when I have no work to do (i.e. most days at the mo') would fly by!

Still, I am short of wedge so may have to pass them up anyhoo.. Every penny is precious .

Hi, I also own DECCA L300. Great on piano and classical music.

Dunno which model they were, but back in the day, when I worked in hifi, we sold some Decca speakers, budget ones I admit, but they were crap!
Do I recall correctly they had a vinyl finish???? (as in black leather grain vinyl, not pretend wood as now)
