Nope, DBT doesn't assume everything sounds the same. It's designed to prove whether or not a listener can really hear differences, it doesn't assume differences must be imaginary, far from it. It's a testing methodology, nothing more.

As it happens, DBT is often expoused by people who do, in fact, claim that differences between CDPs and amps are marginal, but it doesn't require that belief.
