It helps if you can tell the difference between, say, 12 and 59, but evidently even that's not essential.

My dad went for an interview for this but decided it was too physical for him at his age (52) as he does some times get back trouble. The interview was straight foward they just want to make sure you're not a yob and that you have the attitude. The second part is a test which ensures you have simple logic ability to sort letters etc. This shouldn't be a problem if you know what to expect.

At the moment at least near me there are having a recruitment crisis it seems they just cannot get reliable staff who are willing to get up so early in all weathers for the little money it pays. A lot of the unemployed youths cannot do the job as they cannot even be trusted with 50p let alone the Queen's mail.

good perks too - any parcels from play / amazon etc - you simply keep em'! :D

seriously tho - my dad and uncle used to be postmen in the 70's like - they will want you to be honest and they do check your criminal past....

but a mate got a job as a temp posty and tho IO don't recall what was said in the interview - I don't think it was that hard...

is it a tyemp post for the festive season..?

Reminded of the Lee Evans joke - about a bloke complaining that the 1st and 2nd class stamps had gone up. He countered it by saying " OK then imagine you was the post office - here's a letter - here's 28p - get it to Scotland for tomorrow!"

    "F**k off!"

well , they dident give me the job straight away but they did say it would take 2 - 4 weeks to process my details then its either an interview or an application form.
thats good though , gives me a few weeks to get my hair cut and smarten my self up a bit.
the job description wasent that bad either , start at 5 and finnish at 2. rain hail and snow though but it wont be to bad in the summer , least im outside for most of the day and keeping active. uniform and bike provided. the pay isent to bad either , 350 - 370 per week and i recon there would be over time there as well.
its a 40 hour week with a rotating day off but comming home at two means ive got most of the day anyways.
the best thing about it is the sorting office is 1 - 2 mins walk away.
and at least il get my own mail on time.

    cheers mr cat.

Good luck Rob, It's always heartening to see somebody making the effort to 'get on their bike' and find some work and in your case maybe quite literally !

I hope it works out for you.
