Which of those two would you choose for a 20 sq.m. room if placed about 40 cm from the walls?

Orks are out of my price range and don't tell me they are cheap used.

Both the Wilson Benesch Arc and Living Voice OBX are great, but I like the OBX better... :)

Or do you mean other speakers?

The thing is - having learned how to use TacT room correction properly I see no sense in swapping one fine conventional (read direct radiation) speaker for another. It's like swapping torches trying to light up a room, if you catch my drift.

You almost got it right. I am choosing between two particular models, and asking for an advice.

Ah right. I was thinking you meant Wilson Benesch Arcs and some Orb-shaped speakers made by Kef or somesuch.

Oh I feel so stupid for not understanding your original post - of course you meant Shahanian Arcs and Obeliscs - I mean it's so obvious:confused:

I would be interested to hear how the TacT deals with omni-directional speakers ;) I thought the idea of TacT was to minimise room effects, but you have chosen speakers which maximise them. Why??

I think it could still help out in the bass but I have a hunch if you are EQing an omni-directional speaker in the midrange and treble you really should be looking at an RT60 curve most of all. (the TacT doesn't do this).

Going in the complete oposite direction, have you heard the Hyperion's?

I think, from a purist ( you may call it simplistic) point of view you rather fight the room - hence TacT or you use the room - hence omni. I just want to try something completely opposite to what I did before.

You are right about the RT60 and TacT, but if I switch to omni, I will keep the signal path short, no sense to EQ it, I agree. But I will think about some limited room treatment.

My room is of irregular shape and speakers will not stand parallel to the rear wall. It is OK with omnis but one speaker will have to stand less that a foot from the side wall most of the time - that's what I don't like. And I suspect an Obelisk won't like it either.

As I said, it should still help in the bass, only fail spectacularly in the mid and treble (my guess).

The only way I can imagine omni's sounding any good is with a very, very good room. Still, they tend to sound 'novel' for gentle acoustic music. The MBL’s sound quite nice for a while.

With your speaker thats near the wall, stick up some good diffusors.
