    Hi All,

I'm after an arm to go on my Garrard 401. Was looking for partially or fully modded RB250's or RB300's, or anything interesting you may have hanging about - doesn't need to be retro but doesn't need to be recent either. Budget up to £150. Condition is important i.e. must be good!

PM me with any offers! :)

No-one got anything at all? Not even a cheeky little RB300 sat around gathering dust? Maybe a Mayware Formula 4? :D

If not I'll have to resort to fleabay, again

Have got an SME 3009 That came with my 301. I probably will not use it as part of the restoration if its of any interest?

Hi Andy, thanks for the offer, but I was hoping to use a Denon DL 160 that I bought a while back, and as I understand it mc cartridges are not such a great match for an SME 3009. :(

Probably should have mentioned the cartridge preference before.....sorry.

Mine - I can't afford a slatedeck or Loricraft plinth so I'm making one out of a slab of Portland stone; I've cut and polished the slab but have yet to cut out the 'hole' for the deck to sit in - it's all marked up but I haven't yet got round to buying the core bit I need to proceed. In the meantime I've removed, cleaned and re-oiled the main spindle bearing, and am contemplating the motor itself (bit scary but apparently easy enough to do).

    Hi Dave

    Fancy meetin you here lol.

I have mounted that SME 3009 on my 301 as a stop gap. I have tried a Nagaoka Moving Iron / magnet cart and a Sumiko Bluepoint Special evo 3 moving coil. Different price points but the Sumiko is head and shoulders better than the Nagaoka.

    Hi Andy,

So I take it the 3009 is happy with mc's then? Probably right enough, I think I read somewhere they weren't but tbh I have zero clue about it all ! Mind you, it's probably safer me having the rega arm as it doesn't have any confusing looking dangley bits for me to mess up :D.

It would be interesting to hear how you find your 301 vs the 401 if you get them both up and running. I must admit I think the 301's look cooler - that shouldn't matter, but it obviously does - and they're supposed to have the edge over the 401.

    Cheers, Dave
