This is great but seems a little out of the way. So for those who have not seen it do take a look.

Would any body be intrested in a "how to.... " article on cable making specifically an updated zero cost IC that will get you close to some of the those £200plus IC cables, for an out lay for materials of about £15 ?

Nice one ! I've just bought a power amp and I've been wrestling with both the cable options and the 'IC's make no difference' arguments.

This is not a debate!.....[meant in the nicest way] but a offer to put a no nonsense design at minimal cost. I have had two positives, so when my pc comes back from pc hospital, I'll post the recipe in the articles section. As I have had a quiet boxing day I've done the write up and drawings though theres nothing outstandingly inovative and in its most basic form this design can be found else where, I think the final stages are different.

My mistake......... the only article I could find in the Static content: Articles section on the main homepage was the one dated 6 December,05.

Which article are you actually refering to?

PS. Never the less that bakeoff is certainly very interesting which I've not read before. Would be worth seeing what actually every one wrote in their notes and see whether they are really agreeing with each other as claimed.

If you can read them all in their entirety you are a better man than me! :D I wish I could decipher all the comments, but can assure you it was written with impartiality on my part I have nothing to gain I don't sell cables!!
It was the first time I had been involved in a true blind test myself and was genuinely surprised at how profound some differencies were, worth noting things sounded good with all cables but I had definate preferencies.

Thanks for the update. I think people have suggested that this is the 'problem' you might encounter when you try let a few listeners to describe what they hear in their own words. People are bound t have different ways to describe what their hear unless they are either trained to express in the same set of imagery or they have been given a standardised forms to complete. Hope this is not the last bake off involving blind testing from you guys. Would this effort convince you to include a part of ABX style analysis as well as a descriptive type like what you have done in December? The former is much easier to analyse. Personally I could understand why hobbyists like us don't like it ....... We are more interested to know what our hifi toys sound like not a dry analysis of statistics that could be fiddle with to whatever way or truth we want it to suggest.

Still here and waiting Zanash - where I live it's impossible to audition cables so I bought my interconnects (TCI Cobra) unheard on a visit to Walrus. If I could knock some up at a reasonable price myself I would love to dabble in i/cs, Power leads and especially tonearm leads - Buying a Linn T-Kable for example would for me be a jump into a major size vacuum but a more reasonably priced alternative would at least give me a pointer to what it might be capable of doing.
