Anyone have experience with the current iteration of the Aspara HL-1? Thanks.
It wasn't bad, in real terms, you wouldn't choose to make a two way horn, it simply asks too much of the mid, I thuoght their was some resonance from the horn, perhaps if it were solid? Keith.
Hi, I thought they sounded quite good. I have heard them sounding better at the Silverstone show last September. They do offer a very good sense of dynamics to the music, making it engaging to listen to. There is resonance on the bass box but you may not find it a problem. To a number of people, it doesn't get in the way of the music. SCIDB
No, there is one called the HL Reference. I wouldn't be too surprised if something H2 sized were to appear at some point.
Bigger bass driver & larger bass horn (iirc) Not sure which mid driver. I think they are all Precision Devices units now.
Aspara HL1 Thank you for the responses. My room is large (18ftx30ftx10ft). Will the HL1 work in this space or should I look into the larger Aspara?
Hi Ultimatum7, It should fine in your room. the reviewer in HiFI News has a similar sized room. SCIDB
Thanks again. I recently tried out some Klipschorns. While I admittedly did not have "ideal" corners for them, which slightly compromised the bass quality, I found the upper frequencies to be terribly fatiguing. Nevertheless, I did find the horn presentation compelling in a number of ways. I also recently had an all too brief in home demo of the Zu Essence, whose size and weight allowed me to try them in different locations in my new room. I thought the Essence were pretty good for the price and they revealed that bass nodes likely won't be a problem in my large room. I recently acquired a Pure Sound A30 and phono stage, and am seeking a high efficiency speaker to work with the amp. I am hoping to audition the Asparas soon.
Hi, I understand Highwater Sound import them in the USA. http://highwatersound.com/ They always seem to get good right ups from many quarters about their sound at hifi shows. SCIDB
