When they do, ask them to spray some carpet cleaner on your CDs. That'd be sure to 'clean up' the sound!

For else where the suggestion is that its an antistatic measure....

has anybody noticed "lp like" static on a cd ?

Phonosophies cd flux cd treatment [that I've commented on before] is said to remove static .....but it also alter the refractive index of the polycarbonate too...assuming you buy the advertising info. The effect is quite close to the hand cream but the the flux gives a far more open sound....It also cleans dirty disc too..

Still seems theres a lot of people who feel the need to comment without actually trying the hand cream ...how can you do that ? its like writing a review of a cd without having ever played the music ...but your mates has and he didn't like it !

If this is what it said, this is unadulterated hogwash - remember that the polycarbonate is the disc under the aluminium. As the laser never reaches it, you could alter the refractive index till Doomsday and it wouldn't make the slightest bit of difference.

Assuming that the top (acrylic) layer is what is meant, the refractive index could only be altered by permeating through the entire acrylic layer - a thin additional surface layer is not going to change it.

There's no other word for it, these people are humbugs and liars of the first water.

Actually my experience suggests hifi is indeed really that simple.

It's those with too much time on their hands who seek to complicate it.

Yawn yawn yawn. Here we go again, insults - if it wasn't for the odd good advice I get from open minded members (and what i similarly share if I may be so bold) i'd give these forum things a miss. Hi fi simple - oh do me a favour please, that has to be the comment of the year.

My next speakers, "if and when", are either those or something similar to mine with PHY coaxial driver...

The price and the crossover are the only things that "scare" me about the Cessaros...
