    Courtesy and manners cost nothing.
Unfortunately we are human and so are prone to the worst bouts of insanity. The internet and it's various fora are faceless which can lead to many misunderstandings. It is very difficult to detect the tone of a post from just reading the words.

    Bottom line...........be nice.

Mind you sometimes it's fun not to ;)

Whilst it's true that I am not always 100% serious during forum discussions, particularly if they are about hi-fi, I was actually being quite serious about evolution. Evolution is a fact, and it seems very strange that any reasonably well-informed person could dispute this.

Charles Darwin came up with the theory of evolution which, by definition is a theory. In my book that's not quite a fact.

Me too! .. and this changes the matter ..

ps: I apologize with spica about my "must" .. probably in english a "should have the possibility" is better ... btw my mistake was due to different way to write about the two languages , mine and the English

Likewise, I read the first post as being a blanket ban on edits, which would have been a bit harsh but you can still edit them within 24 hours which is fine. I usually edit them quickly as I notice my mistakes.

And if you're not a fan of a certain poster you can always block them AFAIK....

Very gracious of you sir..though,as to your reply to Davidf, as his post had two parts "I don't feel affected by the changes you mention" and "I hope you continue to contribute to the forum", i believe it was my confusion as to not see your agreement being with the hope of "continued contribution" and not with "I don't feel affected", being that i thought you "must" be affected as your belief being in that the author of a thread or a post always "must" have the possibility to edit his work"
And so... i also apologize :)

    Hi spica

I think I went on to correct my own post.

    quote...

    "Me too!
But the author of a thread or a post always "must" have the possibility to edit his work on a Forum
I'm the admin of one of most eminent wristwatches lovers
forum all over the world and the N° in Europe and on my forum everyone can edit its post/thread everytime he wants .. obviously the edit (day/month/year and time) appears at the end
    "

....this makes a lot of sense to me.

    Hello there DavidF...

It Does, just..as said previously, that it was to where the "Me too" was applied that threw me.

    Happy Days...thanks :)

    Tough one this.

Can see both sides with continuity being an issue. But when people say it will make you think more before posting.... I don't really want to think more a lot the time. I just wanted to talk s#@t!

    It's only a forum!

You don't fully understand the word "theory" in this context. Evolution is an observed fact, and there have been theories as to its mechanism. The theories don't discount the empirical fact.

Evolution is a theory - strongly supported by facts. Emergence of new species is is the empirical fact.
