    Excellent night out!

Got tickets on the door for £20 each!!! A bit steep I thought. I'm sure they were about £10 a few years back!

And considering the Audio Bully's didn't even turn up! Yep, that's right they apparantly went to the wrong newport! Somewhere in England!

No one mentioned this and the "dj" who was not so much mixing as just fading one track into the next seemed to be on for hours! Think he was Basement Jaxx's drummer.

Not a big venue, first time i've been there. A good size really. got pretty rammed, but enough room to dance and jump about a bit.

Opened with "Good Luck" and went on to play a mix of the new album and some fav's off the others (Red Alert, Rendez Vu, Romeo, Just one kiss, and of course Where's your Head at?).

I'd only heard the new albums a few times, and my girlfriends normaly jumping about dancing when it's on, but it's growing on me. Basement Jaxx have a pretty unique sound, not sure where they'd be classed as if tried to pigeon hole them. They're obviously dance, but have a worldly sound to them, with a vibe that can usualy be recognized as them. Not music i'd normaly be into, but they do what they do really well, and all three (plus the Jaxx Unreleased), albums I've got are all good.

Crowd was made up of a mix of people standing arms folded and tapping their feet and bopping heads, to those who were going for it a bit MOre, to those who were bouncin and goin for it like a good un! Amazing how good a dancer you become after a few drinks :p

As far as putting on a show goes, it was up there with anyone i've seen before. Good lighiting, with a big display backdrop that was showing bits of video, and various odds and ends. And, they seemed really into it too. They used about 6 different singers (along with the drummer, guitarist, and a couple of people doing the decks and effects..... oh and some bongos in there too), so they were taking turns, and they were dressed up for it.

The highlights were probably ;) the -kind of- title track from Kish Kash, "Cish Cash". Great song nice and upbeat and pretty banging..... oh and the fact that the woman singing it (Siouxsie Sioux does it on the album), was a slim, big breasted, long bright red hair, black catsuit and high heel wearing, whip holding one was nice  She had one of the other singers (Big gospel soul woman) on a lead and dragging her around the stage. Good show! Good show!

Where's your head at obviously got a huge response, and the place was jumping. None of the monkey-human dudes off the video made it to the stage though. Which was a shame.

And then closing with Jump & Shout neatly rounded things off! The rapping on this tune is excellent. It builds and builds and gets stupidly fast! Not sure if it was live or not, but the screen in the background looked like it was showing a camera mic and the guys lips were moving crazy fast! Excellent tune to round off an excellent gig!

Well worth going along to if they're near you. Up beat and intelligent without having to think about it too much........... ifyouknowwhatImeanlike!
