What is this obsession with silver. Sooo last season, like cheap fake blonde wood flooring. Ikea-tastic.

Mmmmm, not many Audiolab fans around here is there!
My main gripe against them, other than there unremarkable sound, was the press that constantly told us how wonderfull they were when 5 mins in the dem room was enough to tell you they were anything but.
They were never awfull, just ordinary. I can see no place for them in a ever shrinking 2 channel market.

They look soooooo much better in black! Are they calling these 'new' ones 8000Q and 8000M?

...not to mention how much Tag will charge (knowing how much they expect for their re-badged Audiolab kit)!!! :p

hehe well i like the audiolab sound (but only from theur newer components, 8000S, 8000Q etc) the older 8000C 8000A's were a bit dry,

having heard my M's off a £3000 digital preamp and into my epos speakers.. i can indeed say that it sounds truly wonderfull :)

hope the new stuff stands true to the reputation

hehe.. well i find most peoples problem with audiolab is that they are simply too used to amps that sound coloured by comparison.. the arcams, naims, cyrus, NAD's of this world all colour the sound far far too much for my liking.. whereas when i got the 8000Q first.. it altered the sound in absolutely no way whatsoever..

i tested this by trying my cd player straight into my amps.. and then through the 8000Q and i could detect absolutely no difference.

I think comments about dull and boring should only be aimed at 8000A's and the like.

AFAIK people bought 8000A's cos it was the only hifi amp other than Quad that had tone controls. If they are going to miss those off, they are dumb.
Might as well buy a Tag, it's probably the same stuff

god knows what they will do.. i hope they will give the internals a good tweak.

i mean in my opinion (having tried many other amps of late) the 8000Q/8000M combo takes some beating still.. and its a good design... but a few usefull updates would be nice.. such as auto turn on feature.. and maybe better use of the remote.

however the idea of an audiolab styled AV processor is appealing. Esspecially if its just a tweaked AV32r in an audiolab skin. Id probably buy that.
