its 4 strand, apparently two are 20 gauge and 2 at 17 gauge, supposedly the thicker ones for bass and the thinner ones for treble? so how do i connect them? my amp and speakers both have bi wire terminals? which go red and which to black?

AFAIK it's not meant to be a bi-wire cable. When I had it (ages ago) I twisted each fat wire with a thin one and then used it single-wire.
