I was bought the Spice Girls album for Christmas one year but that doesn't top the tickets I was given (for my birthday) to see them live at the SECC in Glasgow :p .

Not a bad gig actually - we didn't know where our seats would be and it turned out we were right in the middle, 12 rows from the front. The seating position, combined with the height of the stage, provided us with many hours of entertainment ;) .

    Hummm. Lemme see:

Cliff Richard - The Young Ones soundtrack (redeemed by the rather good "We Say Yeah") - It was my Mum's alright ... it has sentimental value

A Max Bygraves Record (can't remember the title) - Charity shop purchase because my niece realy likes the toothbrush song - strangely although it truly is awful, its a really nice heavyweight parlophone pressing in a flipback sleave and the recording quality is astonishingly good

Oh and "Sexy Hammond" - a collection of late sixties/early seventies covers played on said organ - "as played in London's swinging discotheques" it says on the back or some such.

er ... I don't have as many as five.

The worst things I've bought MYSELF, in no particular order (mainly 'cos of good memories of the times) include:

The best of - Sam Fox (50p on CD, for "I surrender (to the spirit of the night) - the day I bought it, I ventured into Audio-T in Reading. Ian Mott then saw it, and stuck it on the shop floor top-o-the-line Naim/Linn system (this was a crowded, rainy Saturday!). People laughed, then heard the slammin' drum track, and seemed to get into it :)

Jive Talkin' - Boogie box high (12 inch); say no more

Poolside - Nu Shooz (I got this about 3 months ago - I've been searching for it since 1986 when it first came out, as a mate had it and I liked it. It sucks NOW ;)

I have all the NOWs up to 24, many on multiple format (eg NOW16 on tape/vinyl/CD; still looking for NOW4 on CD (incredibly rare - £250-500 on EBay!).

I also have all the dIRE sTRAITs albums :(

Uncle Ants - forget "Sexy Hammond" - what you want is "Moog at the movies"! I have this on 8track cartridge - you have to hear what the version of "Live and let die" sounds like ;)

Can't believe I'm confessing to this:
(In my defense they were all consigned quickly to the bin when I regained by senses.)

Haddaway - What is love (single)
    Aswad - Shine (single)

Actually, I think that's it for embarrasing purchases. Not a bad percentage actually!

Questions of why you might want to collect the NOW series aside. What kind of insaniac would pay up to £500 worth of their hard earned for a NOW CD, rare or not? Is this a new definition of autism?

Now that does sound good. Nothing at all to be ashamed of there

I can't beleive you put that in as bad music. I've heard her live 3 times now and played the album to death. She has her faults but bad she is not!

Dom, what about the Celine Dion single?

Think probably the worst thing I have is either Bryan Adams Best Of, the first CD I bought about ten years ago, can't think why now as the only thing I still like on it is Summer Of 69 and I never play it as it's always on on pub jukeboxes....
