    Hi Guys,

    Seen these on ebay.

No - I don't intend getting them, but I must say I'm very intrigued. Auntie Ants thinks they look great - I showed them to her and she burst into a rendition of the Blue Danube and suggested that if we got them we could theme our new living room on the hotel foyer in the space station in 2001  - thing is, knowing Auntie she may well be serious  .

Can't find much on em on the net but it looks like an early 70s (I'd guess rather than late 70s/early 80s like the ad suggests) attempt at a hybrid speaker with and electrostatic panel for the top end - are they active?

I love looking at ebay just for the weirdies that occasionally come up.

Well they certainly had super high AAF (that's Auntie Acceptance Factor), but maybe she hadn't quite cottoned on to the fact that they are about the size of a fridge. :D

WAF factor indeed - they'll be asking if ones the washer, and the other is the tumble dryer...! :)

    My missus likes them...
All I've got to do is convince her we need a pair of JBL k2s next! ("How much???" she said!)

IIRC they were pretty good, and they did a variant for someone else (Sony?)
Someone sells rebuild kits for the electrostatic panel.

No, they're not active, the PSU is for HV charging of the electrostatic panels. Seen these (and fancied them) before. The "English" version looks duff by comparison.

    They have a quoted frequency response of "-5dB 40Hz - 20KHz", and a sensitivity of "17w for 95dB at 1m, 400Hz"..
Looks like they'll need a beefy amp to get the best from them, and perhaps a sub!

Indeed. I could persuade Auntie to wear a silver jumpsuit and a purple metallic wig then as well :)

Your right - getting my Anderson's in a twist. Still she was on the moon and whichever possible Anderson moon based future we are considering, those speakers wouldn't look out of place.

PS. Can't remember the actresses name, but she was Nick Drake's sister apparently (one for the trivia fans out there).

Anoushka Hemple is a name that springs to mind ...

No - Gabrielle Drake - wasn't she in Poldark?

Definitely is Gabrielle Drake - and now we have a name Google can do its stuff:

Played Lt. Gay Ellis (looks better in the wig I reckon).
