    Hi

My new CD player and amp can be connected digitally via a balanced AES/EBU as well as via digital or analogue RCA. I would like to try out the balanced digital option, but maybe someone learned (eg Thorsten) could give me the benefit of his experience. In particular, I would like to construct a balanced digital cable myself, but I have little idea of constraints or requirements. The CD player has switchable sampling rates from 44.1kHz to 192kHz, which may or may not be important here, but it would be interesting to know if cable length needs to be considered, as was the case with my old Moodlab TDA1543 NOS DAC. In that case, an RCA terminated 75ohm cable of about 8ft sounded significantly better than a 3ft cable.

    Cheers
