Bargain as a DAC?

    Hi Brian,

    We sell modified versions of that unit, plus the DEQ2496, so yes you get lots for the money and we recommend them.

    They are perfectly ok in stock form but can be improved in terms of their IMD & THD performance and that's what the mods do.

    The DEQ version using the latest Audiosmile rebuild should appear reviewed in Hi-Fi World soon.

    As Rob says, the functionality is great and the price is great too. The technical performance is poor compared to todays DACs like DacMagic and Benchmark etc.. but that is entirely down to the analog section before the ADC and after the DAC. I offer mods to replace those circuits with my own design.

    This is from the DEQ, but the SRC performs almost identically.
