Rest assured, it won't be like the M/f you've had before, its fast, transparent and down the wire, so if you have medicore source it will show up.
This is the set thats been on ebay/hifi for sale yes?

    hi wadia-miester

i aint seen the combo on ebay i am thinking of buying new.

the canto's will be fed by a meridian 588.

would you class the canto's as being bright and forward? (like cyrus, tag amps?)

    G,
Not in a million years, unless your source is this way. though the are extremely truthful, this morning I did a demo with a client who has 5 yes 5 M/F F16's, surfice to say, They are now for sale
That must be the unopened pair for sale on hifi for sale then?
The Evo 4 does take longer to run in than I thought, 50 hours are recommended, though the one I had running in some speakers, 'woke up' after 300.
The respond very well to power conditioning and power leads and good wanky wire between them
Though experimention is the key. Wm

No,not at all, they are well extended and clean, but not bright,on the evo 200.2 I would say the midband is very slightly reccesed, can't say though for a newer Evo4.

The Evo4 I heard in my system certainly did not sound bright. Well extended and with authority.
I liked it so much i bought it;)

    there you have it then!

clean, clear, crisp and powerful. Transparent too.

Tonally fairly neutral, perhaps slightly lean in the mid.

Its 'straight down the wire' presentation can seem ruthless with certain recordings, ancillaries, or to some ears.

If I needed loads of power and favoured a clean clear sound, I'd demo it too.

I have moved from Cyrus to Bel Canto and found it less bright than Cyrus. However, I would not say that it has a valve like top end as some claim. For that you need a valve amp.

If you are concerned about brightness, have you considered a valve pre amp? It would be worth trying a few different combinations with your source and speakers.

The only time Belcanto's are only bright, if you feed them bright/shite mains or mis matched speaker wire.
