Fables are an entertaining method of teaching us important facts and guiding us towards the right path BBV. The artistic licence does not get in the way of the messages veracity.

I do believe SM has a liking for music rather than re-jigged studio monitors sold by companies with large ego problems, that postiviely just do get on with each other.
Either way stunt bass not withstanding, I feel its a niche' market that is filled by a 'certain individuals' looking to recreate that ego enhacing trip to fill in possible missing personality traits and character flaws & aged roadies looking for nivarnia (with the odd exception).
Krell 700's, humm doesn't really say a lot does it  just a very average sounding power amplifier.
    Ego's are GO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

    Artistic license = made up.

WM - a similiar flight of fancy. I am a music lover and that is what my kit plays.

    Nick,
I find it very hard to grasp the concept of PMC+Bryston making music verbaitum.
I've yet to hear it in over 20 systems containing these 2 components. Nothing more really to debate Nick, case closed.

Let's try to put this to bed for good shall we?

To my ears, PMC's large monitors simply do not sound authentic. This applies even when fed master tape at a couple of studios close to me.

A look through the listing of music recorded and mastered on PMC monitors is also interesting. Again to me, there are a lot of recordings on there that exhibit the very failings that make much modern music wearing. On a properly balanced setup, they sound somewhat hyped up, like a loudness contour has been added. The assumption is that this makes them sound highly impressive on the type of low fi typically used by the majority and indeed they do. But could this be because the PMC's do a very good job of providing the characteristics of a low fi setup with greater level and resolution capability?

Whatever, there are many who simply don't find the results authentic. Hence the term "stunt". At the end of the day, we are not going to agree. You clearly have different priorities to some of us, and it may well be that for you, the PMC balance is the pinnacle of high fidelity. On the other hand, I would place a bet that in five years time, PMC will be a long forgotten memory for you in your quest for perfection and with that in mind, just occasionally you might want to take others criticisms seriously.

    Kub,

I listen to ALL genre's of music including classical, I also play in a blues band, so I like realistil produced live sounds, hence why PMC/ATC's do nothing for me.
I've owned both the 50's and the IB2's so I can comment here.
Its a personal choice speakers, more so than any other component I feel, they may indeed as SM says give that 'silky juicing feeling', but for myself they leave me colder than a whitchs Tit on a frosty January morning.

An equipment review or opinion verges on meaningless without detailing the particular music played, the quality or compatibility of the chain of preceeding equipment, whether the acoustics of the listening room have been corrected, or which type of presentation one actually prefers, rightly or wrongly. Too many variables to quickly generalise.

    You've owned ib2s WM?

SM - Tastes differ and these arguments are pointless. I wont be leaving the PMCs or Brinkmann without a good reason. And if I do I doubt it will move any closer to your choices. We just like different things and there is nothing more to say. I find them authentic you dont. You find your choices authentic and I dont. Thats why we have bought different kit. When people give advice that is pertinent and useful I listen - as evidenced on the active thread. But this kind of discussion is just tail chasing.
