You can buy them new from Benchmark for $975 (plus shipping, VAT and import duty). I would really love to hear one but can't justify the expense just for curiosity.

I can't buy one direct from Benchmark because they don't deal direct with Germany. They have an importer over here. I suppose I could buy one from that dealer on Audiogon but that's not a route I'd be too happy to take.

Maybe someone over here has one spare. Tone?

I'd like to try this with my DVD player as a transport and possibly reduce the physical bulk of my system a bit.

Didn't realise they had distribution in the UK and Germany. The £940 price in the UK is daylight robbery especially considering the current level of the US dollar .

$975 + 17.5% VAT + 4% duty + $50 shipping (a guess) gives you roughly $1240 which at today's rates is roughly £670.

I imported all mine well over a year ago, at that point there was no distribtor in the UK, now all US exports to the UK other than the Distr. have ceased, the unit is multivoltage too

These guys sell the Dac 1 for £759, I've almost been tempted a few times myself

 

I only found out because I tried to buy one from Benchmark directly, as a result of one of WM's posts a while ago. I received a polite, "we don't sell directly to the UK" in response and a link to SVC London.

I paid about £600 for mine 2nd hand, but then sold it on for the same price.

I liked some of the things it did, but in my set-up, it sounded too "bright".

 

I agree with both WM & stickman, can sound a little bright I used with a Pioneer DVD and a teac P30, BTW regardless of the zero jitter claim,transports certainly effected the performance

I may have used it with the Meridian 500 as well but I honestly cannot remember.
I loved the P30/PP tech combi....didnt realise quite how enjoyable that pairing was until I sold it,in many ways its still my prefered dac
