My Musical Fidelity A3.5 CD player has started to not recognise and skip on proper original CDs.
I'm guessing it's just the laser that needs cleaning.
Any recommendations for a decent lens cleaner?
    Thanks.

I would be loathe to touch the laser with anything. If you must, be very gentle with a dry cotton bud first. If that does the trick - leave it there. Liquid can do more harm than good and skipping may well be a transport problem, I'd get it checked.

    Cleaning CD Lasers

Methylated Spirit or Isopropanol (IPA, not India Pale Ale:D) on a cotton bud are perfect for this job. It is not the laser that you are cleaning but the focus lens.
Most skipping problems are due to either a dirty or knackered laser.
Replacement is often the only cure if available.

Some kodak camera lense cleaner and so,e lense paper. apply the liquid to paper not on lense. Just be gentle no big deal. If that does not solve problem check eails of transport to see if lubricant has dried up. If so reapply. sholud solve your problem. If not its new laser time. Good luck trying.

buy a cheap cd lens cleaning disc (comes with bottle of fluid - probably meths) you put a few drops on the cd brush and it cleans as you play...most of these are diagnostic discs also, so you can check polarity, de-magnetise etc....perhaps a fiver from hmv or sinilar. My car cd was skipping like mad, this sorted it.

    Cheers, thanks for the ideas.
The MF is only 9 months old, so I'm hoping it's just a clean required and not anything more serious!
