......Instumental. (no classical please, you've got your own section)

Rush - La Villa Strangiato from Hemispheres

now your turn one choice no words.

let's make it a bit harder, no dance music.

A santana choice of mine would be "head, hands and feet" from Moonflower, but it's not really a song I suppose, more of a jam session.

La Villa Strangiato from Rush in Rio

Prefer the exit stage left version with fancy intro. La villa can be done live by the artist, Tubular bells can't, but good call all the same. All the rush fans coming outa the woodwork, eh.

Sorry didnt realise the piece had to be able to be performed by the original artisit live and had to be Rush

( although I could argue that Tubular Bells has been performed live by MO !)

Blogger TB2 was played live in edinburgh one year, by original Artist playing I meant, MO played all the album, now he could hardly be expected to do this live, himself, without the help of others who wern't on the album, twas only a joke TBH, I have most of MO's albums inc 4 copies of tubular bells, fanatastic music. :)

    Oddly, I can't think of a single non-jazz, non-classical instrumental track that I didn't find dull-to-very-dull.

Jazz is fine Pete. Just not classical, or you lot will end up arguing over which recording, the decca pressing released at 9.36pm..............drone, etc.

So what jazz tune is your favourite.?

I'm not really au fait enough to express a favourite TBH - I've promised myself that one day I'm going to take the time to get properly into jazz, but it hasn't come about yet. Having said that I'm pretty fond of some of the obvious stuff that I have heard - Miles Davis, Herbie Hancock, etc. - and I was introduced to a couple of Jessica Williams CDs a while back which was really good too, so I'm sure there's lots out there for me.

I'll take any of several hundred things by Coltrane, Mingus, Monk, Ornette, etc, etc, etc. But I couldn't name just one.

Or, if we're not talking jazz, any of dozens of things by Faust, Neu!, Kraftwerk, John Fahey, etc etc etc.

    It's an unanswerable question really.

analoguekid - agree with you there about MO's music - excellent stuff it is too! I've got the TB2 concert you mention on DVD - TB3 played at Horseguard's Parade is on the other side. Well worth owning. The Millenium Bell isn't a bad DVD either.

Oxygene and Equinoxe by Jarre are both excellent albums - wayyy ahead of their time. I'd also rate the soundtrack to Antarctica, Direct and also The City by Vangelis.
