I'm curious what was the best new son you have heard during the show.

I always come back with a bunch of new CDs from every show.

This year, my favourite song was Chris Jones "No sanctuary" played during all Absolute Sounds demos.

I have even found a short mp3 link:

Agreed - I enjoyed this artist too. I think the CD I heard was actually brought by avisitor to the show

hardly challenging for a demo though is it - best song i heard was the happy hardcore that my brain wouldn;t let go of from clubbing the night before. thankfully most of the awful plinque that the dealers insist on playing (with that irritating smirk on their faces) if left to their own devices was drowned out by the ringing in my ears....

I have heard this Chris Jones song to death already... It's going to be the new audiophile classic I guess...

As a card carrying junglist of the darkest order I sentence thee to 12 years hard labour (new labour?) for listening to happy hardcore!!! You'll be saying you like garage and house next.

hey it's my mid life crisis so screw you guys ;)

if acting my age means listening to dinner jazz lite or sitting in a wine bar discussing mortgage rates or buying a sports bike and wearing skin tight leather in public then i'll stick to waving glowsticks about whilst staring at the arse of some rave minx wearing not much other than some uv paint and a smile.
i've also got to say that the attitude of 'ravers' beats other clubbers all to hell. i've NEVER seen any trouble at these events and i've been to loads over the past year and a bit. however i've also been out to traditional 'shirt and trouser' clubs where it seems the idea is to get a mullered as you can and then try to fight anyone who looks at you . personally i prefer the former experience and dread friends wanting to go to 'traditional' clubs.
rave to the grave - hardcore 'til i die.
    cheers

    julian - where's me whistle.....

lamboy - a bit of jump up i can deal with but i've been to a few jungle nights (the promoters of the local hard dance / hardcore night is a jungle dj and runs a jungle night as well) and there's a definate vibe / 'tude that i don;t really get on with. listen to it at home though - garage hahaha - no. house - if it's cheesy enough then maybe but not for long.

I didn't really hear much new stuff at the show but I can't believe how much Dire Straits and Tracey Chapman was being played and only once did I hear Nora!

Really this was the worst year for music by far...

I think the clubs got round a table and decided to kill Jungle a long time ago - must have been the crack dealers/stabbings/hoodies that was scaring off the women. Clubs minus women equals no trade.

Shame that, cos I much preferred Jungle nights to watching sweaty barebacks speeding their tits off to happy hardcore.

    Anyways.....rave on dude.

zg and pfm have introduced me to lots of new music over the years. I didn't hear anything new at the show at all, or at least nothing I'd be remotely interested in buying.

Moreover, I wished I'd made the effort to bring a few c.d.'s

Taking rock as an example, I'm sick to the back teeth of hearing pink floyd as it's sole representative. One room was playing the Nirvana live MTV album and I almost fell over with shock.

I want queens of the stone age, I want the pumpkins, the strokes. What I don't want is a smoking jacket and a dinner party album.

They should play blip-core at the clubs, then it can all be over before 9pm and you can have a nice drink and a chat at the local.

no neither is my missus - tina (on the right) is the girlfriend of one of my mates who was dj-ing at the time - she's not scary at all. scary are the beer heads who come in at closing time and end up on the dance floor doing the white mans overbite at 2am.

Yes thats mainly because by the end of the night most people have to concentrate fully on remembering to breathe. Especially at the hard house events but that is probably because nothing of interest has happened in hard house for years so you have to take 14 pills just to be able to stand it.
