I am not happy with the sound from my system it makes through my speakers, I think it sounded better with FFRC (however my old ones are now to short and I haven't got the time to make new ones).

My GALE XL315 -2 sound pretty lifeless though compared to how it used to do, the bass is also quite heavy and slow.

I don't want to buy wire it so I am just looking for the best £5 speaker cable. Any ideas?

you might be right. I've used it but it was about three kit changes ago . I gave it to a friend who uses it for tethering a horse or something. I use nac 5 - as for a how good it is in reality I've never compared it to anything else. actually I could say the same about my whole set up although as each bit of kit has been added it did sound better. I suppose it was more money so it would. how it all compares to its peers I don't know. sounds OK to me though

you don't say how much you need !

If your wanting off the peg cable well unless your going to spend a fortune,
    its horses for course.

If you want different try getting a roll of 0.7mm enamell copper wire from maplin
and try a few configurations . I've had good results from 4-6 twisted pairs
not as bright as FFRC but better imaging and bass.

But remember simpler is often better.

My current experimental cable is working well, it's a simple 3m twisted pair of 1mm silver cores
insulated with PTFE. This combo is so much more natural than the multi cores I've been using
Swaping better cables shows that the multistranded copper is distortion the
sound of some instraments and masking others.
I'm not finding this to be any brighter than other cables I've tried......which is oddas silver is meant to be
bright and clinical to the point of unbearaleness.

Oh yes the copper wire is about £5 a roll and the silver 1mm cost less than £40 gosh that about £5.50/m

Hiya thanks for all your input, I am thinking about the offers for the FFRC. I only need about 2 * 2 metre lengths at the most as my bedroom is so small, the silver aniversey also looks quite tempting.

I will reply to this thread again when I've done some more research and sorted out a few other things.

    Zanash,
Where do you get your silver wire from? Only stuff I have seen about is sterling silver, which I gather is only about 92% pure.

i am currently using £5/m Black Rhodium T90 on my £2500 Celestion Kingstons, and its holding up very well indeed, considering the price. Silver plated, solid core etc. When i get some Nordost or Isolda sorted i'll be open to offers. Its 4 5m lengths.
