I've ripped 100 rock CDs so far, reached letter G (with loads of AC/DC, Beatles and Dylan et al. in between), still got about four times as many to rip before I reach Zappa and ZZ Top. But my HD is near full. I'm expecting a couple 500 GB HDDs anyday now and thought I'd experiment with downloading cover art.

I have no clue, can anyone recommend a complete idiot's guide to downloading cover art?

    Thanks in advance

My method is brutishly simple. Google image search, artist and album title. 9 out of 10 times, you will get at least a few nice square jpegs of between 5 and 20k in size. I then generally save the art to my C: Drive (giving it a sensible name in the process). As the only thing that requires me to do this is a Cambridge 640H, I place the jpeg in the album file where the 640H can read it. You can see if it has worked by viewing the albums as thumbnails. Depending on what you are replaying the music with, the art may need to be treated differently so do check.

I think Mega Search searches CD covers and a lot of other ones too. It takes a few more clicks to find the right one but you have a lot more results.

I just use amazon, if you click on the thumbnail it removes the price etc.

    are you using iTunes?

If so, you can automate the whole process in one foul swoop!

Just google for 'itunes CD art' - there are plenty of tools on there. Mine works a treat:)
