Why all the integrated amp suggestions? The transporter has a good volume control and internally adjustable output level setting, as well as balanced outputs.

I'd suggest some power amps. Monarchy SM70/pro would work nicely off the balanced outputs and should work rather nicely with jazz and classical - my pair worked out at £500. If you really want big power then you could spend £760 on a pair of NAD C272s, or find a second hand S200 on ebay (gives balanced inputs again).

That's an interesting alternative, Isaac. Some of the integrated solutions would perhaps incline me towards a SB3/DAC or SB+ rather than a Transporter and save functions and cost that way.

    Transporter + balanced power amp

    or

SB3/ SB+ plus integrated (some of the Class D's have DAC)

    I use SB3 + DAC + SM70s... works nicely for me.

I don't know the Neat MFS.

I think 'Alex' on Pink Fish Media had one. I'm sure he could comment on the speakers that worked well with it.

I dont know if he has a mirror-account here.

I have vague recollection of him saying it is a power hungry loudspeaker, preffering a few watts up it's ass, but I can't swear to that.

from neat web site Which amplification do you recommend?

A: We have used a wide variety of amplification (and source components) during the development of all Neat loudspeakers. Most common references are Naim, Exposure, Linn, Quad and Musical Fidelity, but Lavardin, Mark Levinson, Krell, and Roksan, amongst others, have been used very effectively. Valve (tube) amps can be used without problems, with the proviso that 25 watts/per/channel should generally be regarded as the minimum amplifier power required

Good posting but I think he was more worry about the synergy matching rather than power to drive them.

As you mention about effective power used, I have seen 20 watts pure sound driven a pair of low ohms Ruark speakers without any problem.

    Hi

If you are able to use your transporter as a volume control and are still interested in Class D then try and find somewhere to listen to the Trichord Class D monos:

    http://www.trichordresearch.com/D300.html

I know I've gone on about these once before (don't think anyone read it though). I heard a prototype V briefly between Wadia 302 and Kudos C2's. To my inexperienced ears they easily bested NuForce Reference monos in the same system. Sounded great.

Can't remember how much they are, not too ridiculous though.

I'm personnaly not keen on using digital volume controls. Having listend to lots of of highend CD playes with them, I'n not convinced Yet.

    A decent integrated.

Trending towards compact integrated or pre/power with DAC combined with SB3 or Transporter / powers at the moment. Bel Canto suggestions for first route probably the next to be heard.

Have you seen the Private Ads?

There's a Bel Canto integrated going for a great price.
