You would be more than welcome here - I've plenty of space if you need somewhere to stay. Would be great to see you both. I haven't heard Ian's FSMs myself yet so I'll also be up for that.

    Tony.

Can't do the next couple of weeks, but any weekend in early Aug would be good for me.

They really are brutes as speakers go, Whilst phsically not much bigger than my Memory`s the styling is much more severe, and even in Ians big room they are still very imposing.

My memorys on the other hand are in a much smaller room but do not appear out of place. Strummers are in his living room which makes the styling choice a bit more critical.

Well, it looks like the earliest that Ian and I can make it is Saturday 18th August. It might be too late to hear Strummers FSM:(.

Edit: just been pointed out to me that the 17th is a Friday:eek:. I meant the 18th. However, if the FSMs are likely to be gone before this date then there is no rush.

They're here! Very different sound to the Monitors. First impressions: Kind of effortless. Detailed but not a hint of glare on the treble. Plus they go low.

I did try the Buddha modification recommended by Sideshowbob, but any fool knows that Paddington gves you punchier bass

i pair of nice lancasters just went for 580 quid.

i spent quite some time with the similar lockwoods during my 5 years work at a national radio drama recording studio. they were not more than a meter from the huuuuge studer mixing desk and i've never had a chance to hear them in full glory, except for not-so-critical monitoring of the actor's voices - which is probably not what they were made for.

Yeah I was 'watching' those Lancasters but wasn't around at the time of the finish, 15"-ers as well, a bargain. Shows the value of a good description and clear pictures, of which that item had neither!

Uncharacteristically cheap. A zero feedback seller, I suspect that's the main reason.

Congrats on the speakers John, they look good. It's worth experimenting with toe-in and degrees of wall reinforcement, but no doubt you've been doing that anyway.

Not sure that's a good thing! They're pretty retro looking. My girlfriend is already eyeing-up the cabinet build options. Will this never end.....

I wouldn't do anything with them for at least a month or two. Get used to them, they will almost certainly grow on you the more you listen to them.

The only serious upgrade path involves much larger cabinets.
