I need something to stabalise both my speakers on to the stand's top plates, and the stand bases on to my granite plinths...

I have spikes, but they dont screw far enough into the base as I would like.

Blue-tac is probably the best option, but I would rather use something more rigid...

    Any ideas?

car audio specialists, or motor factors.

I get mine from here: http://www.customaudiodesigns.co.uk/contact.htm

not sure if they have small enough bits ? I buy it on the roll I think 6m x 1m t60 it is called.

but the self adhesive stuff should work well.

Double-sided padded tape such as mirror-tape or tape for sticking hooks to tiles would do.

Take your existing spikes to an engineers merchants and find out exactly what size thread it is (Probably M4 - M6 or M8) then get some spikes ( Hi Fi shops do sell them, or get some engineers to knock you up a set - not exactly difficult for them, especially if you supply them with the correct length & thread socket head allen bolt (these are also hardened so perfect for the job) )

Stand top to speaker interface. Get some spray adhesive (used for carpets etc) from Focus / B&Q Then go to Halfords / car factors etc and get two sheets of 800grit wet or dry paper. Cut the wet/dry paper to the size of your stand tops. Spray the back of the paper with glue, wait for the alloted time and then press into place on the stand. Place speaker onto that when stand in position - it wont move other than if you pick it vertically up...

    Some good suggestions.....

you say stabilize...do you mean they tip off or slide ?

bluetac is strong enough to rip off the wood laminate if your not careful.... I'd try this first as its quick and cheap ....

An interesting idea is to clamp the speaker to the top plate .....DavidF had some very good results from this ...

Quite how you do it depends on the speaker stand combo ....but you could try sash clamp or two metal bars with threaded rods . The bars clamp below the top plate and on top of the speaker ... this is not pretty but you can refine the idea if it works.
