My best mate had one of these:

I had the next model down in the range which had an analogue tuner instead of the digital one seen here. They were both fine machines that made a very agreeable sound.

    Hi,

My brother still has his blaster. It still gets used to this day. It is very similar to this JVC.

My brother has a slightly newer version with auto reverse cassette player. It sounds very good for a Blaster. It has a phono input which I used with the deck I had at the time. (Elite Rock II).

Weighed a ton, but was fun to use.

Got to like that Marantz PMS 6000 with the built-in TT:

Seen that website before but had forgotten the URL. Nice one there Mr Rock.

They've got a pic of the last boombox I ever owned:

[IMG] ... well, I actually owned the RX-CT900 but the picture is apparently of an RX-CT950 but looks as near as damn it the same. A bit limited in the ultimate loudness stakes but certainly one of the most un-boxy sounding portable stereos I've ever heard. I regret selling that old Panasonic now. ;) They certainly don't make them like that anymore, you really could call them units portable hi-fi. :MILD:

Notice there was no mention on that site of Hitachi's infamous 3D Super Woofer stereos that were very prevailant in the 80's. Almost everyone knew someone else who owned one I reckon. Haven't been able to find many pics but here's a few:

Hitachi 3D Super Woofer Eighties portable stereo

Hi, I'm new to this group. I've been searching for a boombox I had as a kid and I want to get it again. I don't know the exact model number but it was from this series (3D Super Woofer) and it had a very distinctive feature: an input jack on the side for a "mix in mic". does anyone have any info on this, like the model number, to help me track it down. Or ideally if anyone is selling one.
    Thanks!
