I can't believe you just did what you did with a perfectly good-natured thread. There are loads of threads here that I can't even be bothered to open, they are so dull.

The Naim thread was the most interesting one here for a long time, there was a bit of trolling, but nothing like as bad as here.

I was just reading the naim thread and as bub says, it all seemed pretty light hearted.

MOre than anything amusing! Half the time it's "it doesn't matter what anyone else thinks it's up to you" then "regular words to the opposite! Oh and of course as MF are the mutual *enemy* why not slag them too, so as not to offend!

Bub, trolling? I'm not 100% on the definition of this but i'm confused. Do you mean on my part?

    MO :D

"The Naim thread was the most interesting one here for a long time.............Bub

The truth is that as long as there are Hifi fora, Naim will always be talked about. Love or hate it.....it will always be the case....now who is really interested in Wadia....come on let's be honest...just a few old pipe smokers from the genteel town of retired civil servants.

Is Naim the Microsoft of the Hi-Fi world and as such is it acceptable for most people to hate them?

    What is acceptable

    Chaps

Every forum has its own personality and as such will have its own set of rules.

The thread which was cut obviously transcended the permitted levels of behaviour according to this forums culture.

I think the moderator should privately email those who he thought were going over the top and ask them to either cut it out or to depart.

Speaking for myself, I do not think that I misbehaved but I was part of the general scene and possibly contributed towards it.

If I am asked to leave, I will do so, but it would be nice to be told rather than just cutting a thread. Was it me or was it someone else....we are all gurssing.

Banter is a difficult subject and levels of acceptance can vary.

    Regards

    Mick

It seemed mostly pretty good-humoured to me. Dev's posts (sorry, not-Dev's posts) actually made me laugh.

No one's posts apart from "Metalhead's" did I find offensive. Moderating is not as easy as you think. I'm not really prepared to have all out anarchy so I have to do something.

It's often hard to draw the line - perhaps in this instance I was too harsh. That thread had decended into a private war of words between Bub, Marco, Mick Parry and garyi that wasn't really of value to anyone.

I'll put the end of it back here, and see how it continues. However, I don't really want to be the host to a bunch of people slagging each other off in increasingly harsh terms :(

    Michael.

Ian, yes it did seem pretty good humoured, but I have read many of these kind of threads on other forums involving the same characters, and they tend to kick off all of a sudden into very nasty little arguments. It is the job of the admins and mods to try to get the balance right which is a very hard thing to do.

Having just read the thread (I was at work at the time and had no part in the moderation) I detected a few nasty comments starting to creep in and Micheal obviously decided that it was the appropriate time to call it a day. Better to act early than to leave things to get way out of hand like they did on Groovehandle occasionally.

James I feel you should show a little more restraint, Bottleneck took objection to you being Bub again, so Marco decided to play pat a cake as well, Half Knighted Mick P added his 2p worth, and the downward spiral towards obivilion began, as you live at the bottom of the 'Pit' it's not a problem for you, for others not wishing to 'desend' to your level, it is.
Between the pair of you this is the only place for you to play, play fair or forever be sucking the cheese fest of JW ring (placed upon 164 levels of 'Blessed' angle Iron)
These forums only seem to suffer from either Stand abuse or Naim chasers, either way give it a rest, or maybe Mad axeman malloy may pay you piles of ferrite a visit in the nite
