Nice.... could complement that with some land mines, barbed wire and a tower with searchlights. And some killer dogs of course.

    IF they are caught!

I think it was my dad who told me a while back, some poor oap kept having his shed broken into and his gardining stuff etc nicked
nothing was/could be done and it happened again and again. So in desperation he rigged up a shot gun with a paper mashay bullet, and by mistake after not having gone to the shed for a while opened the door forgetting to release the catch for the trigger and shot him self in the leg, while in hospital the story came out, and he was arrested and put inside for a bit.

How's that for teaching the burglers not to nick things:(

 What can we do a!
We get nicked for trying to protect our stuff and the burglers well, just learn they can take their time and take bigger and bigger risks.

Yeah its all those bleeding heart liberals who care about the rights of criminals.........what about the rights of the victims of crime huh??

I can understand why in America you can lawfully shoot anyone on your property who is there without your permission.
Having said that I heard a story ( could be apocryphal) about two Japanese tourists who were looking for directions and approached a property but were shot dead....

Here, I have to put warning signs saying I have anti-intruder spikes etc. And razor wire is not allowed!!

.....which brings to mind for me the case of tony martin (I think...), I know, I know........its controversial  but I have to say I am not TOTALLY without sympathy for him.

it does annoy me esp when small businesses like DCs Dads (I think is ), are attacked.

Its hard enough to make things work as it is.

Cheers David, yes, the first was a real knock back, and will continue for a good time yet, the second time they got nothing, just made a real mess, looking, as nothing has been replaced, and is still not relpaced. Alternatives are being thought of to minimise expenditure and future loss, tricky.

So, if Tony Martin had just got a warning and a heavy slap on the wrist, I think the number of burglers would have droped off a bit, one way or another;)

Ar no, injured party must have legal aid to go after Mr Martin for loss of earnings:eek: not exactly against the proffession of nicking stuff then a:confused:

Does any one know the current law, of intruders and bashings, or rather own property protection?
The thought did occur to us to lay in wait for the returning gits, but we thought there is the possibility we may get shot, or if not, put inside, so we went home and crossed our fingers, which unfortunatly did not work:( personally we were safe but, property and business wise not:mad::mad::mad:

    breakin etc

    not specifically.

I get the impression though that if an intruder comes to greif on your property

    eg unfilled/uncovered hole etc

YOU are for the high jump........incredibly.

    Bashings?

Not entirely; I think you are allowed to defenfed your property to an extent :)confused:) to what extent is open to dispute......there have been a couple of cases in the press recently. The police don't like you taking your own initiative. The snag is (for me at least)the times I have called the emergecy services in the last few years they have not been the quickest people in the world..

Not meaning to be clever or tell them how to do their job, when I've called them, if I was being attacked by a mad axe man, I would have been dead ten times over (I know whe are lucky to have them atll.)

    or knifed, esp these days.

    Better to go home.

Don't want another Garry Newlove case :( :(

    ......I know.

I think in the Tony Martin case, though I sympathise with him, he got done because the guys were leaving and he shot one in the back.

However, when it comes to what can be construed as self defence the law is an ass. You have to exert "reasonable force" (however, if someone was attacking me, reason would be the last thing that came into it)

    see here: http://www.cps.gov.uk/legal/section13/chapter_t.html#_Toc3085041

There is clear bias in favour of the criminal.

    Cheers for the link:)

Naturally, we majority public can't gang up on, these poor, under privaliged persons having a moment or two of weekness, they should be allowed to roam free, human rights you know, it's their right to have the protection of the law! :JOEL:

    ;)

Sorry, may just have touched a nerve.

    I hadn't realised.....

It didn't help that (AFICR) he wasn't completely honest with the police in the case, covering up stuff about the shot gun (probably unlicenced) which I think he left at his Mums pace after the event.

    precisely.

If soem ones attacking you I would have htought that give syou pretty much a free reign....

If some ones attacking a member of your family I'm afariad it would be belt and braces for me, argue it out later. Atr least your MUmor Dad are still alive.

    Regrettably yes.

Sorry to hear about the break in - There has never been a break in here and most people , including myself, never lock their doors. Glad that I dont have to live in a city..... Seems like secutity is the way to go and these cams that record to your computer when they sense movement might be the way to go...

I don't live in a city, actually a fairly rural village.

Generally we get very few prob lems here, just a few boy ravces in the village hallcar park, the pub gets "done" every now and again...+ soem idiot buried his peugot in the front of the local pub(thye owner wasn't amused).

    Is it though??

I wa talking to my dad about the same .

He feared reprisals if my evidence managed to put some one away......

Its a thought, esp these days.

They rely on decent people being scared of reprisals, you will play the game they plan if you think like that.

I live in a city fairly close to a skanky estate (thankfuly not in it), that has given me plenty of time to see how these skanks operate. They prey on fear and weakness.
Sorry to say, but i really do think the only way they will learn is when some one hits them harder than they can hit.

    Hang on a minute.

I don't esp want a brick through my window .......at the very least.

I don't think thats being weak, I think its being realistic of modern mentaily. I think you ahve to be pretty careful now. Gary Newlove wasn't being "weak", as you put it.

Hes now very dead....leaving a wife and three teenage daughters.

Wasn't trying to say you are weak, but that is how they see it.
